Binders for dentistry
They are polymerizable derivatives of methacrylic acid.
These monomeric bases are active structuring agents and are successfully used:
- as binders in the manufacture of composite filling materials of chemical () and light curing;
- in the form of cross-linking agents in the manufacture of basic prostheses and artificial teeth;
- in adhesive sublayers and sealing compounds for dentistry;
- in the manufacture of plastics with special properties for various purposes.
Monomers for dentistry, containing various functional groups, provide dental materials on their basis:
- high chemical resistance,
- adhesion to inorganic materials and hard tissues of the tooth,
- improved physical and mechanical properties
- high aesthetics
The proposed monomers belong to the class of non-toxic substances and are homogeneous transparent liquids with a weak odor, soluble in acetone, alcohols, chloroform, monomers of acrylic series and the like, practically insoluble in water.
